Making Connections
By Jessica Jones
Audio Engineering & Production program.

I really had fun in my year at PAVI.  I found that each semester’s classes really fit with one another, making the learning process that much more enjoyable.  When I first started, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted from school.  I knew that I wanted to work in the music industry, but I wasn’t sure what avenue of it I wanted to work in.

By the time I graduated not only did I know exactly what I wanted to do but I was comfortable entering a job with the knowledge I had obtained. The teachers were key in helping me absorb everything I was being taught. Not only did each teacher have an amazing wealth of knowledge, they worked in the industry and were up to date on every new thing that was happening. Even when it came to getting a job PAVI was great; they got me an interview, and I was set up in a great internship before I was finished my final semester.

This internship got my foot in the door at Poppy Den studios, where I am now working as an assistant engineer.  That is one of the great things about PAVI, the staff have real connections with studios and audio professionals.  In an industry where who you know can make a huge difference, PAVI helped me make that crucial first step toward working in the field.

Along with the teachers one thing I will miss is all the great people I met at PAVI.  I made so many great connections; I have made friends that that I will have for life, but most of all, along with the people, I will really miss the API console in the studio.  Along with the staff and teachers, the facilities at PAVI are top notch.

Regardless of whether someone knows exactly what they want to do in the music industry or doesn’t have any idea where to begin - only that they want to work in the world of music - PAVI is the place to start.  It is a school that will help prepare you for the industry, giving you a foundation not only in knowledge but gaining connections and experience.
